Quality Evaluation Meeting Held by the Department of Social Work and Counseling

A comprehensive evaluation meeting was held on September 15, 2025, by the Department of Social Work and Counseling of our Vocational School to review quality assurance efforts and academic processes holistically. The meeting was attended by Department Head Dr. Hazal Swearinger, Lecturer Dr. Elvan Ulucan Özkan, and Lecturer Seda Veli Baki.

During the meeting, a general academic evaluation of the 2024–2025 academic year was conducted. Topics discussed included course delivery processes, assessment and evaluation practices, student feedback, practicum and field experiences, the 3+1 Workplace Vocational Training process, and outcomes related to community service practices. In addition, the department’s academic performance, student achievement indicators, and level of institutional contribution were reviewed, and both strengths and areas for improvement were analyzed.

Within the framework of preparations for the 2025–2026 academic year, plans were made to update course contents, review program outcomes, systematically incorporate stakeholder feedback into the process, and enhance the quality of practice-based courses. A timeline was established for the planning, implementation, and monitoring of academic activities, and task distributions were clarified.

The meeting emphasized the goal of establishing a department-wide quality assurance system and sustainably developing a culture of quality at the institutional level. In this direction, internal quality assurance processes and mechanisms were defined; methods were determined to monitor the alignment between program outcomes and course learning outcomes; a systematic monitoring plan was created for the regular analysis of student feedback; and a continuous improvement approach was adopted in academic and administrative processes.

With this meeting, significant steps were taken toward ensuring that the department’s education, training, practice, and quality processes are carried out in alignment with institutional strategic goals and toward strengthening the culture of continuous improvement.
